RVP Shopping Centre Revamp
The Council is set to regenerate the ailing Royal Victoria Place (RVP) shopping centre. The focus will be on Ely Court and Palm Court. The council bought the centre in autumn. They are now aiming to enhance and repurpose these areas to improve viability and occupancy.
A specialist advisory team will develop the plans, with a report due in December. The centre has struggled with high vacancy rates and changing retail trends. The council believes there is potential for revitalisation with a shift towards leisure offerings.
The Counter Review: Exquisite Tasting Menus
The Guardian's Grace Dent reviewed new restaurant The Counter. A new tasting menu-only restaurant by Robin Read. It offers an elegant dining experience with seasonal, local produce.
The beautifully designed space complements the dishes. Including chalk stream trout tart, seaweed-baked John Dory, and roast Sussex lamb. Desserts include rich blackberry sorbet and crème fraîche parfait.
Reviewers praise the generous portions, minimal waste, and the chef's impressive culinary background. Dent concludes that The Counter is a delightful addition to the town's dining scene.
